A buy or sell order to be executed immediately at the current market prices.

Market orders are filled as long as there are willing sellers and buyers. Market orders are used when one prioritizes the speed of execution of an order over the price of execution.

For instance, a trader will execute a market order when he or she is willing to buy at the asking price or sell at the bid price of the market.
