Quick Start — 5 Minutes to Your First USDT Transfer
Ready to move USDT on TRON? This Quick Start guide provides the fastest path to safely receiving and sending assets on the network. Follow these three essential steps to set up your wallet and make your first transaction in under five minutes.
What you’ll have after these three steps
Section titled “What you’ll have after these three steps”- A non-custodial TRON wallet you control
- A seed phrase backed up securely offline
- Your first USDT received and verified
Step 1 — Install TronLink
Section titled “Step 1 — Install TronLink”- Open Chrome or Brave and navigate to the Chrome Web Store. Search for “TronLink”.
- Install the extension published by Helix Tech Company Limited. After installation, go to
chrome://extensionsand confirm the publisher name matches exactly. - Click the TronLink icon in your browser toolbar. Select Create Wallet.
- Set a strong password (you’ll need it to unlock TronLink on this device).
- Write down your 12-word seed phrase on paper — not a screenshot, not a notes app. Store this paper somewhere safe. No one should ever see it.
- Confirm the seed phrase when prompted.
Your wallet address starts with T and is 34 characters long. This is what you give people to receive USDT.
Step 2 — Activate your account
Section titled “Step 2 — Activate your account”A TRON address exists before it’s activated, but it has no on-chain record until it receives TRX or tokens for the first time.
- Copy your TRON address from TronLink (click your address at the top to copy).
- Go to a centralized exchange where you hold TRX or USDT (Binance, OKX, Kraken, Coinbase, etc.).
- Initiate a withdrawal. Send a small amount of TRX (at least 10 TRX) to your new wallet address.
- On the withdrawal screen, make absolutely sure TRON (TRC-20) is selected as the network — not ERC-20 or BEP-20.
- Wait ~3–5 seconds. Open TronLink. Your balance should update.
Step 3 — Receive USDT
Section titled “Step 3 — Receive USDT”- Copy your TRON wallet address from TronLink.
- On your exchange, initiate a USDT withdrawal. Select TRON (TRC-20) as the network.
- Paste your wallet address. Verify the first 6 and last 6 characters match your TronLink address.
- Send. Confirm on TRONSCAN by searching your address — the USDT should appear within seconds.
You can now receive USDT. To send USDT, you’ll need enough TRX for fees (or staked Energy — see TRX Basics for why this matters).
Three rules to internalize right now
Section titled “Three rules to internalize right now”-
Your seed phrase = your wallet. Anyone who has it can take everything. Never type it into any website or app other than TronLink during wallet import.
-
Always verify the full address. TRON is targeted by address poisoning attacks — attackers send dust from lookalike addresses hoping you’ll copy from your history. Copy fresh every time.
-
Never send USDT to an exchange without confirming it accepts TRC-20. If the exchange only accepts ERC-20 USDT, your funds will be lost or stranded.
